Some rooms announce themselves. Fernando Castellanos's primary bedroom and dressing room at the 2026 San Francisco Decorator Showcase does the opposite — it draws you in slowly, deliberately, like a candle kept low rather than allowed to flare.

Fernando Castellanos is the founder and principal of Castellanos Interiors, a San Francisco Bay Area luxury residential and hospitality design firm whose work seamlessly blends art, fashion, and architecture. His Showcase rooms — titled West | Red — are composed in restraint rather than excess. Muted reds appear as accents woven into textiles and materials rather than declarations splashed across walls. West-facing windows frame long views of the Golden Gate Bridge, and dark red drapery tempers the light, grounding both the bedroom and the adjacent dressing room in calm. In the dressing room, clothing is presented as composition, handbags and shoes elevated on sculptural pedestals like objects of study. A private bar tucked discreetly in each room introduces a note of ritual and pause. Everything feels hushed, tactile, and intimate.

Revitaliste's contribution: the bed frame and poufs reupholstered in Rosemary Hallgarten's Cachet in claret, a round ottoman wrapped in Dedar Milano's Vladimiro mohair in bordeaux, and pillows finished in natural linen. Quiet materials, layered with intention. The kind of work that disappears into the room — which is exactly the point.

Fernando Castellanos launched his namesake firm in 2021 after earning his degree in interior design and gaining experience at various Bay Area firms. A first-generation Bay Area native with roots in Jalisco, Mexico, he brings a distinctive perspective to luxury interiors — one shaped equally by a contractor father who taught him to understand how spaces are built, and a lifelong passion for the materials and details that make them beautiful.
