Every spring, the San Francisco Decorator Showcase transforms an iconic home into a living gallery of design, where visitors can wander through rooms positively bursting with inspiration. And this year’s Showcase? It’s as bold, beautiful, and boundary-pushing as ever. Since 2016, Revitaliste has had the joy of partnering with some of the Bay Area’s most creative minds to breathe new life into old furniture for this much-loved event.

This year, we were honored to collaborate with five visionary design firms—John K Anderson, Katie Monkhouse, Julie Rootes Interiors, HKB Interior Design, and TRG Architects—to weave revitalized pieces into their thoughtfully curated rooms. From sculptural seating to soulful vintage finds, each piece was transformed with intention and artistry.

Read on to discover the stories behind each space—and the revitalized gems that helped bring them to life.

Moroccan Mirage

Park Avenue meets Marrakesh in Julie Rootes Interior’s glamorous dining room. We adored collaborating with their talented team to reupholster the solid bronze dining chairs by John Lyle Design in a globally-inspired pattern from Sean Leffers and contrast piping from Samuel & Sons.

Tell about these amazing chairs! Who designed them, where did you find them, why did you select them for this room?

These incredible chairs are solid bronze prototypes by John Lyle, sourced through the HEWN showroom. I was immediately drawn to their sculptural shape, rich finish, and one-of-a-kind presence—I’d truly never seen anything like them. They were actually in John’s own apartment, and he air-freighted them from Thailand just so we could use them in the space. Incredible! The moment I saw them, I knew they were the perfect complement to the Jiun Ho dining table.

What made this Sean Leffers fabric the right choice for the chairs—and the room?

What drew me to Sean Leffers’ “Borobudur” fabric was that it came from a new line and featured a print I hadn’t seen installed before—it felt fresh, unexpected, and full of potential. The colors and pattern paired beautifully with the Sandra Jordan Prima Alpaca we used for the tenting. I also loved that it was quietly muted, yet carried a globally inspired composition that added subtle depth and richness to the room.

What do you think revitalized furniture brings to a space that brand-new furniture might not?

I love finding fresh ways to repurpose furniture. I always say, “If you love it and it’s in good shape, let’s make it work.” Revitalizing a piece brings a sense of purpose and history that brand-new furniture simply can’t replicate—it adds soul and meaning to a space.
